Metanarrative
The Wonder of Bamboo: A Gift from Nature, A Resource for All is an exhibition that explores the fascinating world of bamboo, a plant with unique characteristics that make it a vital part of our environment, a companion to human cultures, and a promising sustainable material for the future.

Overview

The design process begins with identifying the goal, metanarrative, and key messages of the exhibition experience.

Under the metanarrative above, The Wonder of Bamboo exhibition is structured around a non-linear, focal-specific organization framework, which "establishes one major topic or theme around which are clustered subthemes that radiate from the core, much like the petals of a flower or the layers of an onion. Each subtheme explores one aspect”, as defined by Maria Piacente in Manual of Museum Exhibitions.

Research, Content Development, and Schematic Design

This structure and interpretation methods guide the research and analysis direction for content development, identifying the textual, visual, and interactive elements for each key message.

Design Production

Lastly, the exhibition experience is visualized through floor plans, graphic outputs, and to-scale 3D spatial layouts with designed content, production-ready and replicable.
